How She Revels: Talula Cartwright

You have some great years ahead of you. Look forward to them and cherish the days you have now.

I’m a singer and songwriter. I used to be a missionary, but gave it up a couple of years ago because my husband and son need me so much at home now. I seem to be the glue.

Age: 74

Location: Asheboro, NC

What are you passionate about?

My spiritual beliefs, mostly, and also about helping people. I’m a singer and songwriter. I used to be a missionary, but gave it up a couple of years ago because my husband and son need me so much at home now. I seem to be the glue.

What’s the most exciting thing that’s happened to you recently?

I went to a Zach Williams concert two weeks ago because they wouldn't give me a refund. Chuckle. It was fabulous, and I wore a mask the entire time even though I was singing at the top of my lungs! Most people didn't have masks; I hope they were vaccinated.

If you were to host an event on Revel, what would it be?

I would like to host a Narrative4 virtual story exchange.

What’s the last great book you read?

My eyes are bad, so I don't read as much as I used to. I guess James Birren's Guided Autobiography book was a recent one. I love facilitating Guided Autobiography groups.

What advice would you give your 40-year-old self?

You have some great years ahead of you. Look forward to them and cherish the days you have now. Your family needs you. Enjoy serving the Lord and other people every day. It will never stop. It will always bring you joy.

Tell us something surprising about yourself?

I play the autoharp. I have five indie CD's out, with songs that I've written.
