How She Revels: Tulani-Bridgewater

Host Highlight

I’m 49…everything keeps me up at night; my kids’ future, aging parents, global economic shifts and supply chain failures, solving the unhoused epidemic, the ethics of genome mapping, running zombie apocalypse scenarios. It’s a miracle I ever sleep.

Host Highlight
Age:
49
Location:
Los Angeles, CA…newly minted West Valley Girl (Yes, it’s hot and I love it.)

What do you do for work?

I’m an Artist Manager and Music Producer (Bridgewater Artists Management, Founder). I’m also the Associate Artistic Director for The Woodshed Network (non-profit program for Women in Jazz), Founder/Host of The Writer’s Room (The Woolfer, now Revel), Mod/Admin for The Woolfer formerly known as “What Would Virginia Woolf Do?” and now part of Revel! I’m also working on the second draft of my first novel!

What do you love to do when you have a completely free day?

Ideally, I love to loll around poolside with my dogs and family, read a great book, devour mountains of sushi and take in the sunset on an afternoon hike. I’d love to know what it’s like to sleep in. I hear it’s marvelous!

What are you most looking forward to in the next year?

I’m looking forward to getting my book into the world, my artists back on the road safely, and getting our third year of the Woodshed Network underway. Weather and pandemic permitting, I’d like to spend some quality time on my skis. It’s one of my greatest loves.

Is there anything in particular that keeps you up at night?

I’m 49…everything keeps me up at night; my kids’ future, aging parents, global economic shifts and supply chain failures, solving the unhoused  epidemic, the ethics of genome mapping, running zombie apocalypse scenarios. It’s a miracle I ever sleep.

What’s your favorite thing about yourself?

I’m adept with aphorisms. Others might say I’m an optimist, which helps in the middle of the night. Truthfully, my personal favorite is my accents and impersonations, which range from eerily accurate to hilariously off.

What do you like to read?

Lately, I’ve been reveling in modern Gothic romances by L.H. Cosway and making my way through the pile of books on my nightstand, Joan Didion’s latest Let Me Tell You What I Mean, Stephanie Gangi’s Carry the Dog and Jordan Ellenberg’s How Not Be Wrong: The Power of Mathematical Thinking.

Last Google search?

Formula 3 Publicists, research for one of the characters in my manuscript.

Any Revel events you're looking forward to?

I host The Writer’s Room every weekday from 11am PT. I’ve signed up to attend Witty, Yet Sincere Movie Rewrites Cine Club, Discutez-le en Français, and Literary Book Group: Glory Bishop by Deborah L. King (a Writer’s Room author.)

Any events you aspire to host one day?

I hope to host an in-person LA Clothes Swap and a West Coast Writer’s Room Get-together or Retreat. Fingers crossed that my book gets published, in which case a virtual or in-person celebration, during which I hope to get appropriately or perhaps inappropriately tipsy!
