Should You Use Rose Water For Sensitive Skin?

I think so!

Rose water also has astringent properties that tighten pores, brighten skin, and restore your skin's elasticity. As a result, it reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

If you're prone to redness, itchiness, and irritation, you probably have sensitive skin, and while there are many ways to soothe sensitive skin, one of my favorites is by using rose water. Rose water comes from the rose flower, mainly native to Central Asia. The flowers are steam distilled to produce rose water, which has a mild fragrance ideal for those with sensitive skin. Use it as a toner, moisturizer, or cleanser. Here’s why I love it:

Rose Water Has Anti-Inflammatory Properties

The anti-inflammatory properties of rose water reduce the redness, swelling, and irritation associated with sensitive skin. Rose water can also calm down any itchiness so you can use it to treat eczema, sunburns, psoriasis, and other inflammatory skin conditions; even bug bites!

The antibacterial properties of rose water protect the skin from infection and speed up healing. It can be used to treat acne, dermatitis, and other skin infections. Because sensitive skin quickly gets affected by dirt, pollution, and other environmental aggressors, using rose water can remove impurities and keep your skin clean. Apply rose water to a cotton pad and wipe your face or any other areas of your body with it immediately after being outdoors to cleanse the skin and avoid irritation or infections.

Rose Water Is a Natural Moisturizer And Toner

As women age, we lose the estrogen that keeps our skin hydrated. Rose water can help with this by soothing and hydrating dry skin. It has humectant properties that lock in moisture, reduce flakiness, and balance the natural oils in our skin, keeping it healthy. One trick is to add a few drops of it to your daily moisturizer!

If you’re the rare woman over 50 who has oily skin (argan oil is another good natural solution!), or if you want to recommend skin solutions to a daughter or young friend, It also works wonders on oily skin by balancing its natural oils. It's an excellent toner that tightens pores, restores the skin's pH levels, and gives your skin a radiant glow. For it to be an effective toner, wash your face with an ideal cleanser, then duab a cotton pad in the rose water and apply it to your face and neck.Do this before applying a moisturizer or serum. The rose water heals and refreshes your skin while the glycerin traps moisture, making your skin look plump and radiant.

Rose Water Has Anti-Aging Properties

I kind of hate the term “anti-aging,” (because, isn’t aging better than the alternative?!), but the antioxidants in rose water protect your skin from the damage of free radicals. These unstable molecules cause premature aging, fine lines, and wrinkles. Exposing the skin to sunlight, pollution, and other environmental aggressors leads to their production.

Certain medications, stress, and a poor diet can also increase free radicals on your skin. Using rose water reduces the effects of free radicals and keeps your skin looking young and fresh.

Rose water also has astringent properties that tighten pores, brighten skin, and restore your skin's elasticity. As a result, it reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Rose Water Improves Your Health

Finally, amazingly, rose water claims to also soothe the digestion system and improves mood! So really, it’s a wonder substance and it also smells fantastic. Add a few drops of rose water to your tea or  water throughout the day, and dab some behind your ears while your at it!  Doing so will improve not only your skin health but also your overall health.
