As a company, we believe that Black lives matter, that women's rights are human rights, that no human is illegal, that science is real, love is love, and diversity makes us stronger.
Building a woman-led business is itself a political statement: we believe that women serving women can make for great outcomes, and that includes profitability. Building this company is also a personal act which has taken tremendous force of will. Alexa and I are called upon daily not only to figure out how revenue can exceed costs, but how to do so in a way that’s aligned with what’s best for our members; all this in the face of the everyday sexism and demands placed on all women in a society that still does not value us as equal to men. To us, all this effort is only worth it if the company we’re building lives and breathes the values we hold dear. The reversal of Roe v. Wade only makes us feel this more keenly.
As a company, we believe that Black lives matter, that women's rights are human rights, that no human is illegal, that science is real, love is love, and diversity makes us stronger. We’re going to continue to be unabashed in expressing these beliefs in the articles we write and the events we choose to produce.
That said, we also want to be clear that Revel welcomes all women. We want to be a destination where women come together and learn from each other, not a place that aggravates the polarization and division that is tearing our country apart.
Perhaps you hold different beliefs than we do, or perhaps you share our beliefs and choose to express them in a different way. Just as the Revel brand is a reflection of its founders, our Communities and Events are a reflection of the women who run them. We value allowing each host and community curator to determine the content and rules for her gatherings. Any member may create an explicitly political (or apolitical) event or community, and she can decide what happens within that space. However you choose to revel, we hold us all to the same standard that we articulate in our community guidelines: no harassment, bullying, violence, or unnecessary provocation is tolerated here. In other words, we stand by our beliefs, and strive to build a community that is both tolerant and inclusive.
