If you’re like me, you’ve been checking the weather, mountain cams and wondering if your season pass will finally get some use after taunting you for the past two winters. I got in barely half a season before the plague and opted to roll my passes forward to ‘20-‘21. In preparation for hitting the slopes, here are some gear options for board and ski alike. I even threw in something for the “après” crew.

Boarders…

Not having to fumble with straps, clamps or any snow-laden, partially frozen attachment is welcome. Burton has been at the forefront of easing the transition from lift to lift-off for years. Their newest step-on options are the latest from the greatest.

Noggins…

If you only have one critical piece of equipment, a solid helmet is where to drop your coins. We’ve all heard the tragic tales of skull meets tree, hardpack, etc. Let’s do everything we can to avoid having ski patrol or med-evac teams as part of our winter journey. Smith offers a full range of MIPS helmets for every size and age group. If Olympians protect their heads, you should too! Great colors and options with ventilation, visors, etc.

Sticks…

These were designed with us in mind and bear the name of one of the original Boss Babes…Amelia Earhart. Designed by and for “not men,” these are versatile, all-mountain skis. I don’t know if you’re the kind to go airborne, but these beauties may help you set a flight plan or keep you securely on the bunny slopes…courtesy of Renoun.

Tootsies…

Keeping your footsies toasty is critical. Being cold and wet from the toe up can really ruin an otherwise good time. Busting a move is quite different from busting your bum, so traction is another consideration. Head over to www.Pajar.com to get solid technical footwear that also looks great. Straight from Canada, where people know more than a little about snow.
